The problem of nepotism and narrow minded publishing in the most mainstream of poetry worlds in America is finally getting a good airing out. Here is David Orr's response in this week's NY Times Book Review to the Dana Goodyear piece. Poetry Magazine is shamefully conservative. No one can argue with that can they? Check out the elegant form, the stately homogeneous interiors of the poems... And the question Orr leaves us with at the end of this essay is no news, but maybe people will actually think about it... Would anyone care if other poetic voices had access to funding?
